The selection process

  1. 01

    Color identification test

Wire colors matter. For your safety and everyone else's, you must correctly identify colors.

  2. 02

    Basic skills test

Measurement, reading, and arithmetic — the everyday math and reading of the trade.

  3. 03

    Multi-craft aptitude test

Shows how you think through mechanical and spatial problems.

  4. 04

    Oral interview

Be ready to articulate why you want this. A 3-5 year commitment deserves a confident yes.

Interview tip: if you aren't 100% sure this trade is for you, the interviewers can't be either. Know why you want it, and say so plainly. WECA ATC is an Equal Opportunity Organization — recruitment, selection, employment, and training happen without discrimination.

Know the job before you apply

Electricians install, connect, test, and maintain electrical systems — power, lighting, climate control, security, communications, and machine controls. The work can be strenuous: bending conduit, standing for long stretches, working on ladders and scaffolds, sometimes in hot, dusty, or confined conditions. Strict safety procedures are part of the craft.

It's also a front-row seat to the technologies rewiring the world: solar, EV charging, smart buildings, and energy efficiency.

Low voltage technicians test, service, and maintain VDV and Fire Life Safety systems — the communication and safety backbone of modern buildings.
