Project Engineer to Project Manager

Electrical concepts, code, and best practices for non-electrician construction professionals — designed in close consultation with our contractors, so PEs can talk the talk and walk the walk on electrical projects.

The five-course path

  1. 01

    Practical Electrical Theory

    Self-paced online. Atomic theory, Ohm's Law, series and parallel circuits.

  2. 02

    Subject Indexing and Code

    Navigate the NEC and run the calculations: conductor sizing, raceway and box fill, service sizing, grounding and bonding, motors, lighting, panelboards.

  3. 03

    Electrical Wiring Methods and Installations

    The most-used wiring methods, proper installation, workmanship standards, and applying code correctly.

  4. 04

    Job Costs and Estimating Basics

    Material and labor estimation, voltage drop in practice, and total job cost analysis.

  5. 05

    Commercial Electrical Blueprint Reading

    Coordinate cut sheets, submittals, and the NEC with digital blueprints — self-paced or instructor-led.

Good to know

  • Not just for Project Engineers. General contractors, construction managers, solar installers — any construction professional who needs a grounding in electrical concepts benefits.
  • Not for Electrician Trainees. ETs should follow the ET Certificate path to bank the education hours the state exam requires.
  • Fits a full-time job. Every course is fully online; motivated students finish in ~6 months, one-course-per-quarter students in ~18.
